The Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina was celebrated in and at the Vienna City Hall. The reception for civil communities was organized by councilors Aslihan Bozatemur, Amerisa Bajrić and Ibrahim Kaniz.

Bozatemur, who as a representative of SPÖ Vienna actively promotes intercultural dialogue, welcomed the delegation in the City Hall and emphasized the close connection between the city of Vienna and the Bosnian community. As a dedicated representative for diversity and integration, she emphasized the importance of this event as a symbol of mutual respect.

“In recent years, the city of Vienna has introduced numerous measures to support the Bosnian community. From cultural support to educational projects to social initiatives – we want to create an environment where all people can nurture their roots and at the same time actively participate in society,” said Bozatemur.

The reception began with a tour of the historic premises of the Vienna City Hall, including the halls where the Vienna Parliament and the City Council sit. The historical framework emphasized the values of democracy and togetherness, which are crucial for both Vienna and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The closing discussion with refreshments provided the participants with the opportunity to exchange ideas on joint projects and possibilities for further cooperation.

Councilwoman Amerisa Bajrić emphasized the importance of the Bosnian diaspora for Austrian society:

“The Bosnian community contributes not only culturally, but also socially. Events like this show that we are an important part of Austrian society, without forgetting our roots and values.”

Councilor Ibrahim Kaniza emphasized the importance of Statehood Day:

“This day makes us “reminds us that freedom and togetherness are key values. For us in Vienna, it is an honor to be able to share these values and strengthen dialogue between cultures,” he said.

The reception at Vienna City Hall sends a strong message for intercultural dialogue and the long-standing connection between Vienna and Bosnia and Herzegovina Aslihan Bozatemur, who hosted the reception, sees this event as an important step towards deepening cooperation and mutual respect, Klix.ba writes.
