Two U.S. Senators, Jeanne Shaheen and Richard J. Durbin – who visited the Srebrenica Memorial Center in Potočari last month – sent a letter of appreciation to the institution’s director, Emir Suljagić. In it, they pledged to continue supporting the work of the Center, which preserves the memory of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide as well as the testimonies of survivors.
“We were truly impressed by the new museum and its powerful message of resilience. At a time when some are attempting to erase the crimes of the past in order to justify dangerous secessionist policies, the Center and its exhibitions serve as an important reminder that we will not forget. Your work remains – now more than ever – crucial for preserving the memory of those who were killed and the dignity of those who survived,” the U.S. Senators stated in the letter.
