On Thursday, the Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) and the Federal Minister of Energy, Mining, and Industry Vedran Lakic visited the arms industry factory Binas in Bugojno, where they talked with the company’s management about further development.

As Niksic emphasized after the meeting, the arms industry is a branch of the economy that should be the driver of development.

”The arms industry in the FBiH is a branch that should be the driving force and engine of development. This is our commitment and policy led by our Government, a policy that fights for every worker and every prospective factory, and today I and Minister Lakic conveyed that to the management of Binas,” said Niksic on Thursday.

The arms industry factory Binas in Bugojno is a former economic giant that was brought to the brink of shutdown due to poor management.

”Of course, that was not an acceptable option for us, but also for the people of Binas. Today we heard impressive developments and even more significant plans for the future of the factory. Binas, along with Ginex, Igman, BNT, Pretis, and even Zrak, which, although in bankruptcy, is working at full capacity, show what results we can achieve together. With joint forces, we continue to build the perspective of the arms industry in the Federation,” explained Niksic on Thursday.

He also referred to the results of the Bugojno company.

”Binas will double its turnover this year, from 26 last year to over 50 million this year, yesterday they signed a new contract for next year worth 44 million, they are investing in new machines, opening new plants, and in the next few months, in addition to the current 400+ workers, another 250 need to be employed. Binas has turned from a loser into a leader of the economic development of this region and an example of production and development success,” said the Prime Minister.

In the end, the Prime Minister of FBiH said that the entity government will continue to cooperate with Binas.

”Aid to such companies is not social aid and wasted budget money. On the contrary, the efforts of Minister Lakic and the Government to invest in and help the arms industry are in fact a safe investment in the future. An example of the arms industry is the guarantor of the development and economic stability of our country and the most effective way to keep our people here. For this reason, we will continue to provide support to the management and workers of this and other companies with all our strength, so that they can improve and strengthen production and make better use of the increasing demand for these products on the market. The arms industry has also shown how important it is for our country and that is why the Government of the Federation will do everything to further strengthen it,” concluded Niksic, eKapija writes.
