The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, and the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ingrid Macdonald, hosted a reception on Monday marking the end of the “12 Days of Peace” campaign.
In his address, Konaković pointed out that as part of the partnership with the United Nations, Bosnia and Herzegovina values the UN Sustainable Development Agenda 2030, the goal of which is to create peace and prosperity for all people in the world. He also referred to the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which he participated in last month, and emphasized that he had numerous constructive meetings in New York related to cooperation in the field of peace and progress, as well as future forms of cooperation.
He assessed that after all those meetings in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we were encouraged to work even harder when it comes to progress and commitment to the goals promoted by the UN. He said that Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue cooperation with all UN member states, with the aim of contributing to global prosperity and stability.
He reminded that Bosnia and Herzegovina is actively working towards direct participation and membership in the main bodies of the United Nations and expressed his gratitude to the Office of the Resident Coordinator of the UN in BiH for the cooperation so far.
Resident coordinator Macdonald expressed her satisfaction that the UN, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is implementing the “12 Days of Activism for Peace” campaign for the fourth year.
She recalled the goals of the campaign, among which are highlighting positive examples and supporters of peace throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, promoting social awareness and vigilance on a global level about the continuous need to build, maintain and strengthen peace, improving partnerships between the private sector, civil society, supporters of peace, religious organizations and media. She expressed the hope that the campaign will be successfully promoted on a global level.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Nations in Bosnia and Herzegovina successfully cooperated this year as part of the “12 Days of Peace” campaign, which symbolically began on September 21, when the International Day of Peace is celebrated, and ends on October 2, on the International the day of non-violence, as a global call to awareness of the importance and constant need to build, maintain and strengthen peace, announced the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
