BIHAMK warns: Longer Waits and Delays on the Roads are expected in the Afternoon

Based on previous experiences, we warn drivers traveling from the south to the interior of the country today (03.05.) of significant congestion and possible delays on the M-17 main road, on the Mostar-Sarajevo route.

As one of the alternative routes, it is recommended to use the section: Kupres-Bugojno-Rostovo-Vitez-Sarajevo, which in practice has proven to be less congested on days of heavy traffic.

Drivers are advised to plan their departure earlier in the morning, check the road conditions via BIHAMK reports and cameras available on the bihamk.ba website, and be prepared for a longer drive on an alternative route, but with a lower risk of complete delays.

There are long lines of vehicles at the exit from Bosnia and Herzegovina at the border crossings: Izačić, Velika Kladuša, Hadžin Potok, Kostajnica, Kozarska Dubica, Gradina, Gradiška, Novi Grad, Brod, Orašje and Brčko. At other border crossings, passenger vehicles are currently not waiting longer than 30 minutes.

Due to the registration of passengers under the new system of exit and entry into the countries of the European Union (EES, Entry/Exit System), longer delays at border crossings are possible.

Works are underway to repair the roadway on the A-1 motorway section Kakanj-Lašva, which is why the left side of the motorway is closed for a length of 3 km, and vehicles are directed in both directions, on the opposite side of the motorway.

On the A-1 motorway sections Sarajevo North-Podlugovi and Sarajevo West-Lepenica, traffic is redirected to the overtaking lane due to current works.

The movement of all vehicles over the bridge on the main road Dobro Polje-Miljevina is prohibited. Vehicles with a total mass of up to 3.5 tons can use the roads via Grepko or Kalinovik (there are 19 km of macadam roads), while freight vehicles must travel via Rogatica and Ustiprača.

On the Tuzla-Bijeljina (Banj Brdo) main road, vehicles up to 3.5 tons are allowed to travel in one lane, alternately, while traffic for vehicles over 3.5 tons is still suspended.

On the Jablanica-Blidinje main road, traffic for vehicles up to 3.5 tons is allowed, while traffic for vehicles over 3.5 tons is still suspended.

On the M-5 main road, border crossing Izačić-Bihać, works are being carried out on the reconstruction of the bridge over the Mrižnica stream. Vehicles are being redirected to a temporary bypass in the immediate vicinity of the works, with alternating passage.

The Brčko border crossing is open to passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tons. As of December 2, 2025, the Karakaj border crossing is open to all vehicle categories. Traffic for all freight vehicles is prohibited at the Šepak border crossing.
