BiH’s Military Industry Shows No Signs of Slowing Down

Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) exported weapons and ammunition worth 238.6 million BAM in the first half of 2025.

This is 33.6 percent more compared to the first half of last year, continuing the growth trend despite the new United States (U.S.) customs policy.

However, in June, the export was only about 14 million, which is just a third of the value from May. But in this branch of industry, individual months shouldn’t be looked at, as it mostly involves large shipments that go out every few months. Therefore, the figure from June does not necessarily mean that there has been a slowdown in production and exports.

The main export market remains the U.S., where we exported weapons and ammunition worth 75 million BAM in the first half of the year. Next are the Czech Republic, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, and Serbia.

Where the weapons end up

Of course, it is known that a good portion of these products actually ends up in Ukraine, and the countries listed represent locations where intermediary companies that procure and deliver weapons, and mostly ammunition, are registered.

In addition, another type of product should be added to the mentioned amount, which is listed separately but partially serves a similar purpose.

These are products such as explosives, pyrotechnic items, incendiary preparations, and the like. In the first half of this year, we exported them for the value of 72.7 million BAM, and the main buyers were companies from the Czech Republic, followed by Serbia, Turkey, Romania, and Croatia.
