As part of the event “Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Igman 2022”, a photo and video documenting project of members of the Army and Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina was implemented.
Photographer Velija Hasanbegovic made a series of portraits in black and white. In the lens of the camera, the participants testify with their life biographies why they stood up to defend their homeland. On the photos, it is highlighted “I also defended Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
“A video interview was conducted with each fighter, which obliges us to remember and reminds us of the answer ‘Why we fought.’ The series of portraits was placed on billboards in 21 cities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina” – announced the Memorial Fund.
As they say, heroes live among us, those who sacrificed themselves for our survival, for freedom, pride, honor, for the homeland.
“BiH was also defended by mothers by seeing off their sons, wives by seeing off their husbands, sisters by seeing off their brothers, children by separating from their fathers, and all of them made sacrifices for their country together. However, the greatest merit of our survival belongs to the seemingly invisible heroes, men and women, the best among us, who gave their lives in the service of the most honorable fight of the Army and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of BiH” – they state from the Memorial Fund.
