US State Secretary John Kerry held a speech in the Baker Institute in Houston (USA), in which he focused on the role of religion in diplomacy of the United States, as reported by US media.
He said that certain acts of individuals in the US, who are trying to blame all Muslims for the terrorist attacks carried out by individuals, are disgusting.
“Blaming all Muslims for the actions of few people is same as to blame all Christians for the crimes committed against Muslims in BiH and Kosovo, during the 90’s of the last century,” said Kerry.
US State Secretary emphasized that Muslim leaders around the world condemned the terrorism of the Islamic State (ISIS), Al-Qaeda, Boko Haram and other terrorist groups.
“These leaders said that the acts committed by these groups are not in accordance with Islam. But the problem is that verbal condemnation is not enough. They have to do more,” stated Kerry.
He emphasized that it is not fully known still why people so easily fall under the influence of terrorist groups.
“Some of the reasons are certainly political repression and corruption in governing structures,” concluded Kerry.
