Tourist boards will be set up in the upcoming days at nine Sarajevo bridges, as the final activity of the project “Phoenix – Culture for the Future”.
Following bridges will be marked as part of this project: Goat’s bridge (Kozija cuprija), Šehercehaja’s bridge (Sehercehajina cuprija), Latin bridge (Latinska cuprija), Drvenija, Festina Lente, Cumurija, Skenderija, Suada and Olga bridge (Vrbanja), and Ars Aevi Bridge.
The aim of this activity is to present cultural and historical heritage of the city to the citizens and visitors of Sarajevo, and to emphasize the symbolism of Sarajevo’s bridges, which are connecting different coasts, different cultures and different epochs for centuries.
Boards will be highlighted on the bridges and they will include a pictogram and a brief history of each of the nine bridges, including QR codes, which will help interested visitors to easily and quickly access longer texts about the bridges, which can be find on web portal Destination Sarajevo: www.destinationsarajevo.com .
Activity of labeling of Sarajevo bridges is being implemented in cooperation with the City of Sarajevo, under whose jurisdiction is the riverbed of Miljacka River, and with the consent of the Institute for Protection of Monuments, which operates under the Ministry of Culture and Sports of FB&H.
The project “Phoenix – Culture for the Future” lasted for 18 months and it is part of the program “Sarajevo 2014” that is funded by the EU within the framework of marking of the anniversary of the World War I, with the aim to send messages of peace, reconciliation and solidarity from Sarajevo to all around the world.
This project is financed by the European Union and it is implemented by the Municipality of Stari Grad, Zone of Improved Business (ZUP) Bascarsija and the Sarajevo Navigator Foundation.
