The lifeless body of a mountaineer from Croatia, for which an extensive search and rescue operation was launched on Monday, was found late last night in the area of Visočica. Sixteen members of the Prenj GSS, 35 members of the Sarajevo Canton GSS, the Konjic Police Station patrol, as well as a large number of mountaineers who provided information and help on the ground, participated in the action.

“The lifeless body of the wanted mountaineer was found during a search of the wider area of the Visočica mountain. After the investigation by the officers of the Konjic Police Department, a technically demanding operation was started to retrieve the body over extremely difficult and inaccessible terrain, which lasted about two hours. The body of the injured mountaineer was handed over to the Konjic Police Department shortly after midnight, after which a debriefing of all the participants of the operation was carried out,” announced the GSS Prenj.

As they pointed out, the operation was completed without injuries or difficulties for the rescuers.

“This action has once again shown the importance of mutual cooperation between mountain rescue services, police structures and all the people who, with their involvement, help in the most difficult moments on the mountain,” said GSS Prenj and expressed their sincere condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
