The famous Irish band U2 and the American director and author Bill Carter published a video in honor of the 20th anniversary of the group’s concert in Sarajevo.
The video consists of concert footage of the famous song Miss Sarajevo, which the band sang in Phoenix on September 19th, 2017 in honor of the 20th anniversary of the first time it was sung.
Bono and Carter discussed the effect the post-war concert had on the band members and their dedication to humanitarian work. In honor of the jubilee, Bono expressed his wish to send a video message to the citizens of BiH.
“The song Miss Sarajevo can be used in so many different ways. Considering its idea of heroic resistance against oppression, we could also call it Miss Syria,” Bono said.
The song was originally created on the documentary film of the same name by Bill Carter, which was filmed during the siege of Sarajevo. U2 performs this song at various concerts, always in the context of socio-political events in the world.
