bijacaAfter completion of the construction of the third and the last phase of works, the official opening of fully completed border crossing Bijaca took place today.

The third phase of the work, by which the border crossing Bijaca became one of the most modern in the region, was funded by the European Union from IPA funds in the amount of 5 million EUR.

Border crossing Bijaca is one of two so-called BIP, or border crossings with full inspections (besides Bijaca, there is the second BIP border crossing Gradiska in the north of B&H). The construction of the border crossing Bijaca was performed in three phases. The first phase was performed by the Roads of FB&H. The second phase was performed by the Indirect Taxation Authority and this phase was financed from the budget of B&H in the amount of 8 million BAM. After completion of construction of the second stage, directly before Croatian accession to the European Union, border crossing Bijaca was officially opened for the normal functioning of transport of goods and passengers. The last, third stage of border crossing Bijaca was funded by the European Union in the amount of 5 million EUR through IPA.

The fully completed border crossing Bijaca represents an object made by all standards of the European Union and which is one of the most modern facilities of its kind in the region. In total there are 18 tracks (nine for entry and nine for exit from B&H).

Since the establishment of the ITA, the European Union invested a total of 35.5 million EUR in the construction of border crossings in B&H. Besides the border crossing Bijaca, EU funded construction of crossings Raca, Izacic, Gradina, Orasje, Kamensko, Klobuk, Zupci, Samac and Karakaj.
