The High Representative of the European Union (EU) for foreign affairs and security policy, Josep Borrell, accused the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, of “taking a completely pro-Israel position”.

“The geopolitical cost of Von der Leyen’s trip (to Israel, op.a.), where she took a completely pro-Israel position and represented no one but herself in international politics, was quite high for Europe,” Borrell said in an interview with a Spanish newspaper El País”.

The high representative of the EU criticized the current political position of the EU due to the Russian-Ukrainian war and the Israeli attacks on Gaza, and said that “a hurricane is approaching the West because of its policies”.

Referring to the book “Divine Comedy” by the Italian writer and poet Dante Alighieri, one of the world’s classics, Borrell pointed out that the violence in Ukraine and Gaza is similar to the “circle of violence” mentioned in this book.

“Putin (Russian President Vladimir, op.a.) and Trump (former US President Donald, op.a.) haven’t won yet, but they could. Europe must wake up before it’s too late,” said Borrell.
