Today, the Hungarian Parliament will ratify Sweden’s candidacy for joining NATO, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in his address to MPs at the opening of the spring parliamentary session.
Sweden’s membership in the Alliance will be voted on during the day.
Hungary will be the last of the Alliance’s 31 members to ratify Sweden’s membership, after months of delay from the ruling Fidesz party.
Approval of the entry of a new country into NATO requires ratification by all members of this alliance.
