Borrell: Civilians in Gaza must be protected

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, said on Thursday that the statements of representatives of the Israeli government about the impossibility of civilian life in Gaza are disturbing and dangerous.

“Civilians in Gaza must be protected. Statements of forced displacement are completely unacceptable,” Borrell wrote on the X social network.

At least 112 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll since the start of the attacks on October 7 to 23,469.

The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced that on the 97th day of brutal attacks on the blockaded enclave, Israeli forces committed ten more massacres in which 112 were killed and 194 were wounded.

The statement states that a total of 59,604 Palestinians have been wounded since the beginning of Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip and that all these figures refer exclusively to the bodies and wounded recorded in hospitals.

It is also stated that 70 percent of those killed are children and women.

Israel continues to target health facilities in the Gaza Strip, and the relevant Ministry of the Palestinian enclave states that at least 337 doctors and health workers have been killed so far, and that 99 of them have been captured.

150 health facilities in the Gaza Strip were targeted by Israeli attacks, including 30 hospitals and 53 health centers that are no longer operational. 121 ambulances were destroyed.

Israeli attacks have caused a catastrophic humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and brought the health system there to the brink. Insufficient food, clean water, hygiene supplies and medicines also bring the risk of spreading infectious diseases in the centers where hundreds of thousands of displaced people are fighting for bare survival, AA writes.
