European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell expressed hope today, ahead of the European Council meeting, that EU leaders will agree on granting candidate status to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He added that he strongly supports that decision because it would be a significant step for the country and the leadership on its way to fulfilling all the set conditions for the reforms it needs to do.

It would be an important step for the entire region, noted Borrell, on the eve of the meeting of the Council of the European Union, at which BiH today expects unanimous support on granting candidate status for EU membership to be passed.
