A report out of Germany (Bild) is linking Borussia Dortmund with a move for AS Roma’s Miralem Pjanić. The Bosnian midfielder is currently under contract with the Italian club until June 2015.
Die Borussen are continuing their search for a replacement for Mario Götze after the attacking midfielder decided to leave the club for treble winning Bayern Munich. With €37 million in the bank from the Götze deal, BVB have room to splash some cash to find a replacement. After agreeing to personal terms with Kevin De Bruyne, BVB forgot that they would need to actually agree to a transfer deal with Chelsea, and the Blues were’t too thrilled with the idea of losing the Belgian.
After being linked with other players like Malaga’s Isco and Atletico Mineiro’s Bernard, Dortmund have reportedly made a €14 million offer to Roma for Pjanić. The 23 year old found himself in the starting lineup twenty times this past season, but Roma decided to deploy him both in the middle and out wide. This would at least fill the positional void left by Götze. However, is a move for Pjanić enough?
If Lewandowski remains at Dortmund for another season, Pjanić is a good enough player that BVB can likely make it back into the knockout rounds of the Champions League.
