After that, the “Dragons” will face Switzerland and Qatar in the group stage of the competition.
On the eve of the final test before the World Cup, the coach of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team, Sergej Barbarez, said that tomorrow’s match with Panama will be an excellent opportunity to test the team’s current capabilities.
“We are ready, we are eager to play, especially against opponents who are not from Europe. We want to feel the mentality and style of play of those national teams,” Barbarez said at a press conference.
He emphasized that he is satisfied with the players’ approach to training, despite certain problems with minor injuries within the playing staff.
Barbarez will not count on Edin Džeko in today’s match, who has been given a few more days to fully recover from his injury, and Ivan Šunjić also has minor problems.
The Bosnian coach expects both players to be ready for the first match at the World Cup on June 12 against Canada.
He also commented on the Panama team, describing it as a serious and not at all harmless opponent:
“I want to see how we will deal with teams that are not from Europe, with teams that have a different approach.”
He also commented on numerous surprising results in the preparatory matches of other national teams, saying that the outcome in those matches is not so important.
“The upcoming matches, the official matches, are important. On our side, against Panama, we will see that it goes in the direction of the team that will start the match against Canada, but we will keep some players on the field for a short time in order to keep them fresh and, most importantly, to be ready on 12th June,” said Barbarez.
