Bosnia and Herzegovina gets its first Cheerleading Club

After cheerleading came to life in Herzegovina in the years behind us, the first club that will engage in this sport in Bosnia has been founded.

The Cheerleading Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is a member of the Olympic Committee of BiH. This year, BiH participated in the European Championship for the first time as a national team, but Bosnia did not have a club until now.

Due to the great success of the cheerleaders from BiH, the interest in this sport is increasing, so it was only a question of when a club would be opened in some part of Bosnia.

It all started when history professor and cheerleading coach Seada Mukanovic moved to Sarajevo from the United States (U.S.). Seada was born in the U.S. and lived there all her life, but her family is originally from BiH.

She has been involved in cheerleading since the first grade of elementary school, and in 2016 she started her coaching career. As a coach with her team, she won a high fourth place at the U.S. National Championship already in 2019.

As soon as she settled in Sarajevo, she contacted the Croatian cheerleading club Siroki, Miss Nikolina Colak, who, in addition to being the head coach of Siroki Brijeg, also holds the position of president of the Cheerleading Association of BiH.

Croatian cheerleading club Siroki is the cradle of cheerleading sports in BiH and they have helped many clubs in their beginnings and development, which is why they have been awarded several times for the development of the sport, and that was the case this time as well.

Several meetings were held, an excellent team from Sarajevo responded, and the realization of starting a cheerleading club in Sarajevo began.

The official name of the club is Cheerleading Club Storm Sarajevo.

The first training for all girls, boys, and youth will take place on January 4th, 2024 at 3:30 pm in the Ilidza Cultural, Sports and Recreation Center.

The plan is to form teams of all ages by the end of January and start with the basics, and on March 24th they will participate in the national championship in Ljubuski. The desire is to go to the national championship right away in order to see how it all goes and gain experience for next year because the national championship of BiH is held every year at the end of March.

The Cheerleading Club Storm Sarajevo invited all those interested to follow the cks_sarajevo Instagram profile as more information will be published soon, Klix.ba reports.
