Bosnia records significant Decline in Air and Rail Transport

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the third quarter, a significant decline in all indicators in road, rail and air transport was recorded due to the impact of the coronavirus virus pandemic, and the largest decline was in the number of passengers transported by train, which is 79.6% less than in the same quarter last year.
The number of transported passengers in air transport in the third quarter decreased by 79.1% compared to the same quarter last year, in road transport decreased by 60.8% compared to the comparable period, and in urban-suburban transport the number of transported passengers decreased by 25.4%, Nezavisne writes.
In road transport of passengers, the kilometerstraveled in the third quarter were lower by 61.2% compared to the same period last year, while the realized passenger kilometers were lower by 68.2%, according to the Agency for Statistics of BiH.
When it comes to urban-suburban transport in the third quarter, compared to the same period last year, mileage decreased by 19.9%. In the road transport of goods, the number of kilometerstraveled in the third quarter decreased by 13.9 percent compared to the same period last year, the volume of transported goods decreased by 12.8%, while the realized tonne-kilometers decreased by 16.9 percent.
The number of realized passenger kilometers in railway traffic in the third quarter decreased by 84 percent compared to the same quarter last year, while the volume of goods transported by rail decreased by 16.3 percent, and the number of realized tonne-kilometers decreased by 23.3%. In the third quarter of this year, compared to the same period last year, the number of airport operations showed a decline of 57.3%.
