Bosnian Actress Irena Mulamuhic passed away

Bosnian actress Irena Mulamuhić died at the age of 82. She was a long-term member of the Youth Theater ensemble.

as reported, she played over 100 roles in many films, television series and radio dramas. During the siege of Sarajevo, she was in Sarajevo and played in plays by Haris Pašović and Susan Sontag.

After the war, she collaborated with the East West Center for a long time. At one of the world’s most famous theater festivals, the Festival d’Avignon in France, she played the Mother of Srebrenica, standing every day for a week for 6 hours quietly, without speaking, while the audience approached her.

She played important roles in plays, among others, “Discovering a Woman”; “Silk Drums”; “In the land of last things”, “Waiting for Godot”; “Shelter” and in the films “Snow”, “Quo vadis, Aida?”, “In the land of blood and honey”.

For her role in the film “Polenov prah,” directed by Nikola Stojanović, she received the award for the best female role at the actors’ meeting in Niš and a special award at the film festival in Pula.

She is the winner of many other awards and recognitions, including the Award for the best role at the Theater Games in Jajce and for the Radio-Sarajevo Actress of the Year.

She is the winner of the “Adem Čejvan” award for lifetime achievement.

The date of the funeral will be announced later.
