Bosnian Presidency aware of the Decision of the NATO Committee

Bosnia-Herzegovina’s Presidency Chairman and Democratic Front party leader Zeljko Komsic told Dnevni Avaz news portal on Sunday that he was aware of the information that the NATO Political Committee had given the green light to the “Reform Program”.

Komsic briefly confirmed this information, without going into detail what it would mean for BiH now. According to the procedure, the Ministry of Defense and Foreign Affairs of BiH is now in the process. This means that Defense Minister Sifet Podzic and Foreign Minister Bisera Turkovic will have to present this document at NATO Headquarters in Brussels.

The “reform agenda” was a stumbling block to government formation.  It was first treated as the “ANP Annual National Program” and later agreed as the “Reform Program”.

While RS authorities are of the opinion that this document does not prejudice NATO membership, the FBiH thinks the NATO border will soon be on the Drina.

Alija Kozljak, a former Bosnian military representative to NATO, recently explained to Avaz news portal that there will be discussions at the levels of the various working groups and experts comprised of representatives of NATO and member states on the “Reform Program”.

He explained that NATO will not vote on the “Reform Program”, but will make certain evaluations on the basis of constant consultations and consensus, and the content of the document is, as Kozljak says, “alive” and will be discussed continuously in the coming period.
