The writer and journalist for the Federal Television passed away after a short illness at the age of 30.

According to unofficial information, Zečević was staying in Zagreb where he was being treated for an infection that had affected his lungs.

The head of Odžak, Anes Osmanović, wrote that he and Zečević spent a lot of time together and were happy about his progress in treatment.

“Come on, Seventh Force, let’s go for coffee and here comes Matijas. We spent a lot of time like that and got along well. I was happy about his progress in treatment and prayed to God in his own way to endure everything and defeat the disease, so that we can have coffee again as soon as possible. And today, this sad news. If there was a profile of a nice young man, the best one was Matijas. May he rest in God’s peace, may his noble soul rest in peace. I pray to God to grant the family a lot of strength to endure the pain,” Osmanović said.

Zecevic was born in Slavonski Brod. He finished high school in Odžak, and earned a master’s degree in journalism at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Mostar.

In 2019, his first novel titled “Waiting for the Dawn” was published, and it was inspired by the life of people in Bosanska Posavina.

This novel was presented in more than 40 cities, both in BiH and Croatia, as well as in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

After two years, i.e. in 2021, his second novel “Cudinjive vode” will be published, which also records the number of cities in which it was presented.
That novel is a continuation of the story of the first published novel, and it focuses especially on the floods in Posavina in 2014.

From 2022, he worked at Federal Television as a correspondent from Posavina for the news and morning program.

For his work, he was awarded the Municipal Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Cultural Development and Promotion of the Municipality of Odžak and is also the recipient of the “Meho Puzić” Golden Plaque, which was awarded to him by the association of the same name in Odžak, Klix.ba writes.
