Fifteen years old Islam Halilov was declared a hero because he saved more than 100 people in an attack in Moscow, and he happened there because he came to work part-time in the dressing room.

The brave boy remained calm, despite the bloody battle unfolding before his eyes, and led the terrified people fleeing the gunmen to the emergency exit, saving dozens of lives.

He made it clear to the people where to go in order to get to a safe place.

“At first we heard some strange noises on the first floor. We thought that maybe some noisy group had come,” explains Islam.

Then he saw people start running away in fear. He saw people shooting in front of him – and knew he had to run and help others.

“I realized that if I don’t react, I will lose my life and the lives of many people. Honestly, it was very scary,” he added.

He shouted and signaled the frightened and panicked people to follow him.

“When I was in a crowd of people, going to the door to open it, I thought that terrorists could come out of the stairs or escalators and throw a grenade or open deadly fire. Thank God, nothing happened. I managed to open the door in time,” thank Islam that everyone else was alive and well.
