The Government of the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted the Decision on the approval of the current program of donations and spending for the allocation of one-time financial assistance to pensioners for the year 2026, for which a total of 1,470,000 KM was allocated from the budget.
The right to this assistance can be exercised by pensioners who have continuously resided in Brčko District for at least two years, are beneficiaries of pensions from the PIO/MIO funds of the Federation of BiH, Republika Srpska or corresponding pension funds of neighboring countries, provided that their monthly pension does not exceed 1,476.53 KM.
Nataša Stevanović, Head of the Sub-Department for Social Protection of the Brčko District Government, said that around 11,000 pensioners are entitled to this assistance every year.
As she explained, the Subdivision has been maintaining a database of registered beneficiaries since 2010, and every year, in addition to checking the status of previously registered pensioners, registration of new beneficiaries is also carried out.
“Registration of new pensioners lasts from May to the end of August. It is necessary to submit the pension decision, the last pension check and the current account number. One of the conditions is that the applicant has at least two years of continuous residence in Brčko District until the day of submitting the application,” pointed out Stevanović.
The amount of one-time assistance depends on the amount of the pension. Pensioners with incomes up to 666.76 KM will receive 150 KM, those whose pension is from 666.77 to 842.44 KM will be entitled to 100 KM, while beneficiaries with pensions from 842.45 to 1,476.53 KM will be paid 50 KM.
Stevanović stated that the payment for previously registered users is made in September, after checking the life status, while new users are included in the database after the registration process is completed.
According to her, between 500 and 550 new beneficiaries are registered annually, while a significant part of the beneficiaries of one-time assistance are recipients of family pensions.
Stevanović added that according to the indicators so far, the funds planned for this purpose are sufficient to cover all users who meet the prescribed conditions, and reminded that the funds can be realized until January 15 of the following year, that is, until the end of the budget year for which they were approved.
