Yemen’s Houthis said their naval forces carried out an operation targeting the “British oil tanker Marlin Luanda” in the Gulf of Aden, causing a fire.

“As a sign of support and solidarity with our brothers in the Gaza Strip, and as part of the response to the American-British aggression against our country, the Yemeni naval forces have carried out an operation targeting a British oil ship in the Gulf of Aden,” according to a statement by Houta army spokesman.

The spokesperson of the ownership company “Trafigure” confirmed that the tanker was on fire.

“Earlier on January 26, the Marlin Luanda, an oil tanker operating on behalf of Trafigura, was hit by a missile while passing through the Red Sea,” he said.

The firefighting equipment on board is being deployed to extinguish the fire in the cargo tank on the starboard side of the ship.

Military ships in the region have moved to provide assistance, the report said, Klix.ba writes.
