The management of Brussels Airport asked airlines to cancel half of the departing flights planned for today, because problems with the check-in system caused by a cyberattack have still not been resolved.
An unnamed spokesperson of this airport said that the company “Collins Aerospace,” the system provider, has not yet delivered a secure updated version of the software necessary to restore full functionality.
Some of the largest European airports, including the busiest in the region, London’s Heathrow, tried yesterday to restore normal operations after hackers disrupted automatic check-in systems.
Hackers yesterday “targeted” the supplier of check-in and boarding systems, disrupting operations at Heathrow airport, Berlin airport, and in Brussels, where passengers faced long lines, cancellations, and delays.
