Several buses carrying prisoners released by Israel in exchange for hostages freed by Hamas arrived in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah on Monday, an AFP correspondent reported.
Huge crowds gathered to welcome the prisoners, many chanting “Allahu akbar” or “God is greatest” in celebration.
Dozens of buses carrying some of the nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners released from Israeli jails as part of the deal have arrived in Gaza.
The majority were detainees taken by Israeli forces during the Gaza war, but the group included 250 prisoners convicted of involvement in deadly attacks or detained on suspicion of such security violations.
