At the end of 2011, direct investment from Switzerland to BiH amounted to 496.3 million BAM, which is the 7th largest amount of investment to BiH.

The largest investors are world companies that are situated in Switzerland and investments of BiH Diaspora, said to FENA Ambassador of Switzerland to BiH.

According to structure of investment and trade exchange, the wood and clothes industry and the metal processing and pharmaceutical industry are the most attractive industries for Swiss businessmen.

However, it was noted that the complex administrative procedures are still present and that their simplification would be a positive signal for additional investments from Switzerland and other countries to BiH.

Embassy of Switzerland in BiH claims that the business environment of BiH could be significantly improved, and that the potentials of BiH Diaspora must be used.

According to date of trade exchange that Embassy has, Switzerland is at the 7th place of most significant trade partners of BiH and they consider that the business cooperation between two countries is good, but it could be better.

In that context, Switzerland is trying to contribute to further improvement of business cooperation and to help improving the business environment, through various agreements that will help create framework conditions but also through various projects from the field of economy and job creation, infrastructure, rule of law and democracy, but also through the mobilization of Diaspora, which is done by Swiss Office for Cooperation.
