The publishing house Buybook will host on 20 August during the Summer Book Fest an author from the Netherlands of Moroccan heritage Abdelkader Benali, where his book ”Voice of my Mother” will be presented.
In the book, Benali returns to his roots and to the literature that he discovered as a 20 year old.
The literature shapes his life and attempts to answer the question of what it is like to be a first or second generation child of an immigrant.
”I was a bid that tried to fly to heaven and lay an egg there”, said the protagonist of the novel ”Voice of my Mother”, a successful young photographer.
Benali was born in Morocco in 1975, but he came to the Netherlands with his parents when he was 4 years old. He writes novels, stories, poetry, travel writing and theater plays, as well as literary reviews and is a regular colunist in the biggest Dutch daily newspaper Die Volkskrant.
His books have been translated in 10 global languages, announced Buybook.
