Campaign “Together against Fascism” in Sarajevo today

prijedorCampaign “Together against Fascism” will be held today at the Square of the Children of Sarajevo on the occasion of the marking of the Day of White Bands.

The citizens of Sarajevo will be given white bands so that they would symbolically remind of the order issued by the wartime authorities in Prijedor on May 31, 1992 – that all non-Serbs in Prijedor mark their houses with white sheets and put white bands around their arm when leaving home.

“This was one of the most apparent examples of fascist regime implemented by the police, military and paramilitary structures in Prijedor,” the organizers stated.

Within the campaign, a board will be placed at the Square of the Children of Sarajevo on which the citizens will write their messages. Upon the completion of the campaign, the board will be donated to one of the museums in Sarajevo for permanent protection.

The campaign of raising awareness about events in Prijedor in the period from 1992 until 1995 is jointly organized by the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide, the Association Movement of Mothers of Enclaves Srebrenica and Zepa, and the Association of the Parents of the Killed Children of the Besieged Sarajevo.
