Can you guess the Budget of the OHR?

ohrThe budget of the Office of the High Representative (OHR) for the year 2016/17 amounts to almost 6 million EUR.

The budget of the OHR for the period from July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2017, amounts to 5,999 million EUR, or about 12 million BAM. Although the Office of the High Representative reduced its budget in recent years, as well as a number of their employees, the monthly salaries of employees of these institutions, are still very high.

High Representative Valentin Inzko arrived in BiH in 2009, and his salary at that time amounted to 25,000 EUR. After being exposed to criticism of BH public due to the enormously high earnings which, according to the opinion of many people, were not in accordance with the results he achieved, Inzko gave up on a part of his salary 3 years ago.

Otherwise, six other high representatives in BiH before Inzko had a great salary for their involvement as well. The first one, Carl Bildt from Sweden, earned 450,000 EUR for a year and a half in BiH and Christian Schwarz-Schilling and Miroslav Lajcak took approximately the same amount.

British politician Paddy Ashdown had the highest salary  – a total of 1.1 million EUR, or almost 2.2 million BAM. Ashdown was appointed for the duty of the High Representative of the International Community in BiH in June 2002, and he performed this function by January, 2006.

The work of the OHR is funded mainly by the resources of the European Union (53 %), and in the budget are also involved the USA with 22 %, Japan (10 %) and Russia (4 %), and other countries that are members of the Peace Implementation Council.
