The Committee for the April 6th Award of the City of Sarajevo will have a difficult task to select candidates for this year, since a large number of prominent and significant individuals was proposed. Famous singer Zdravko Colic is one of the candidates, and Goran Cengic and Anur Hadziomerspahic were posthumously nominated.

More than 50 applications were sent to the address of the City of Sarajevo, but after a review, more than 20 of them were rejected.

In the category of culture and art were proposed the vocal soloists of the group “Ambassadors” – Ismeta Dervoz, Zdravko Colic, Hajrudin Varesanovic and Jasna Gospic, director, journalist and publicist Avdo Huseinovic, the Cultural and Art Society Bascarsija, actor Emir Hadzihafizbegovic, Mario Pejic, photographer Ron Haviv, Jazz Fest Sarajevo and Anur Hadziomerspahic (posthumously).

A group of citizens proposed Prof. Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanovic in the field of healthcare and social protection, and other candidates are Medical Association BIMA, the Gerontological Center Sarajevo, Marica Malesevic and Dr. Mirsad Muftic.

When it comes to the field of science and education, this year’s candidates are the Center “Kralj Fahd”, Professor Tatjana Ljujic-Mijatovic and the Professor Rabija Bosnic.

Candidates in the field of economy are Centrotrans-Eurolines, Director of BBI Bank Amer Bukvic, and companies Autodelta and Neimari.

When it comes to other categories, this year’s candidates are the Association of Independent Intellectuals “Circle 99”, the Police Department for Special Purposes “Lasta”, KO Patriotic League, Goran Cengic and Mario Mikulic.

The Committee will vote next Monday and all of those with seven or more votes will go to the second round. After the second round, two proposals for each category will be sent to the City Council of Sarajevo, and deputies will vote for the candidate who will receive the award on the Day of the City of Sarajevo.
