After the tragedy that hit Sarajevo, but also the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the Prime Minister of Canton Sarajevo (CS) Nihad Uk announced that new cameras will be installed in the city and new vehicles will be purchased.
Uk said that words cannot describe the sadness he feels over the loss of doctor Azra Spahic.
“I offer my sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all health workers in CS. I am also constantly informed about the condition of her two friends, one of whom is seriously injured, and I wish them a speedy recovery. Citizens’ concern for their lives and for the lives of their children due to reckless drivers is justified,” he said.
He said that they are doing everything they can to prevent speeding on the streets of Sarajevo and will continue to do so.
“We currently have 51 cameras in CS, and I will personally insist that new locations in the city be covered with new cameras, especially the places of accidents like the one last night. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of CS will also receive new vehicles, and dozens of new police officers will soon start working,” he said.
Uk also referred to the punishments for people who repeat traffic violations and said that the punishments for those people will be the most rigorous that the law allows.
“I am in constant contact with the Minister of Internal Affairs of the CS Admir Katica, the Minister of Transport of the CS Adnan Steta, and our police commissioner. We agree on the measures we will take. We coordinate what is necessary with other levels of government. The public will be informed about everything in a timely manner. No one is spared from unscrupulous individuals, so they will not be spared from us either. I promise you that,” he concluded, Klix.ba reports.
