The Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Cardinal Vinko Puljic, was in Lukavac yesterday, and he used that opportunity, among other things, to pay tribute to the victims of the genocide which was committed in Srebrenica.

During his visit to Lukavac, Cardinal Puljic visited the memorial to the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica and accompanied by Mayor Edin Delic and the Chief Imam of the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Puracic, Zijad ef. Vehabovic, laid flowers for all the innocent victims.

Strong messages were sent about the importance of peace and coexistence during yesterday’s visit.

“I enjoyed listening to the information about life in this city, showing the diversity by religion, nationality, and culture, which shows that it is possible to work together. I want to encourage them to persevere in that while opening the perspective of life in this area,” told Cardinal Puljic.

The first man of Lukavac, Edin Delic, described the visit of Cardinal Puljic as historic for this municipality.

“Our goal is to delegate Lukavac as a place where religious freedoms are protected, respecting religious differences in a way that is appropriate to the times in which we live. Lukavac is an environment where interethnic relations were not disturbed in the most difficult times. I believe this environment of ours is a space from which such messages can be sent, and today we really had an event that will mark the time ahead of us, ” Delic stated yesterday.

During his stay in Lukavac, the Archbishop of Vrhbosna visited the Church of St. Anthony of Padua in Lukavac, where he also celebrated Mass.
