The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in response to the claims and allegations made in public in recent days regarding the public procurement of a system for biometric voter identification and scanning of ballots at polling stations, stated that it fully stands behind the legality of its decision in the public procurement procedure in question.
“We would like to emphasize in particular that dangerous and completely untrue claims have been made about the taking or expectation of bribes in the public procurement procedure in question by members of the Central Election Commission of BiH, as well as about pressure from representatives of the international community on members of the Central Election Commission of BiH when deciding on the selection of the most favorable qualified bidder. Therefore, we publicly call on the competent institutions to investigate all allegations, and the Central Election Commission of BiH is absolutely at their disposal,” the institution said.
The statement states that they also believe that the allegations of individuals in question are pressure on the Complaints Review Office and that by making incorrect claims regarding public procurement, which relate to the entire procedure and decision-making process of the Central Election Commission of BiH, they want to compromise and stop the largest attempt to strengthen the integrity of the electoral process in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the history of democratic elections.
“The claims and untruths made in the media are best proven by completely incorrect claims about the number of members of the Commission that conducted the procurement process, and about the proportions in certain phases of voting within the Procurement Commission. When it comes to the manner of voting of the said Commission, the Central Election Commission of BiH itself does not have this information and this time expresses surprise that someone from the outside, especially representatives of one of the bidders who participated in the public procurement, can have it,” the statement of the CEC of BiH states.
