The turnout in the early presidential elections in Republika Srpska was 35.78 percent, or 443,472 voters, which is 17.2 percent less than in the previous elections, the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced at a press conference at 9:00 p.m.

The voter turnout in the early presidential elections in Republika Srpska was lower than expected, said Jovan Kalaba, President of the Central Election Commission of BiH.

“443,472 voters voted, or 35.78 percent. In 2022, about 53 percent of voters voted. The first preliminary results will be published at 11 p.m. on the izbori.ba website,” Kalaba said.

Kalaba stated that three irregularities were reported to the Republika Srpska Ministry of Interior, but that some of them were dismissed as unfounded.

At one polling station, it was reported that a person who had already voted had entered the ballot box.

The polling stations in the early elections for the President of the Republika Srpska closed at 7 p.m. At 2,211 polling stations, slightly more than 1.2 million citizens had the right to vote for the new President of the Republika Srpska. The turnout was low, that is, lower than in previous cycles of regular elections.

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina certified the candidacies of Dragan Đokanović (Alliance for New Politics), Branko Blanuša (SDS- Serbian Democratic Party), Siniša Karan (Alliance of Independent Social Democrats – SNSD – Milorad Dodik), Nikola Lazarević (Ecological Party of the Republika Srpska), as well as independent candidates Igor Gašević and Slavko Dragičević.

A total of 1,264,364 voters were registered in the Central Voters’ Register.
