Census might be canceled?

12804581_1736813483221995_1440395240_nMinister of Civil Affairs of BiH and coordinator of the census on behalf of the Council of Ministers Adil Osmanovic spoke with the leadership of the Agency for Statistics of BiH and representatives of the entity statistical institutes, with the aim of intensifying activities regarding the publication of the final results of the census.

All key actors were invited to work on finding solutions in order for the results to be published by the 1st of July 2016, which is the deadline for publication of results of the census that was conducted in 2013.

Minister Osmanovic reminded all the attendees that if they do not find a solution and not publish the results on time, there is a danger for the census to be canceled. He urged everyone to have in mind that the key document “A unique program of processing the census material of census of population, households and apartments in BiH in 2013” should be adopted no later than the 15th of March 2016, in order for the statistical institutions in BiH to be able to complete their part of work and publish the results within the deadline.

It was announced that the session of the Census Bureau of the Agency for Statistics of BiH will be held next week, when the conversations on this subject will be continued. Minister Osmanovic urged leaders of statistical institutions to achieve the key agreement regarding the unique processing and publication of data on the session.

Representatives of the Agency for Statistics of BiH informed the attendees that the contract for the storage of census materials with previous landlords expired on the 31st of December 2015. It was also emphasized that the Agency is working intensively on resolving the issue, and that this fact does not affect the security of census material in any way.
