opcina centarInterest of young people in self-employment with the help of the Municipality is increased in the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo.

With the aim of stimulating employment of the youth, the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo, led by the Mayor Dževad Bećiroviž, continues to provide financial support from its budget to the best business projects intended for the development of entrepreneurship and self-employment of youth from the area of the central Sarajevo municipality, through co-financing of costs of launching and development of their own business.

Based on the Decision on stimulating employment of youth from the funds of the budget of the Centar Municipality that was unanimously adopted by the Municipal Council Centar, this project was launched last year and 50.000 BAM were allocated in the budget for this purpose. Seventeen young candidates applied with their business plans to the public call for financing and co-financing of the best business projects intended for the development of entrepreneurship and employment of the youth that was published on September 23 last year. After the implemented procedures, non-refundable funds were approved for five candidates whose business plans were evaluated as the best.

With the intention to continue opening perspectives for young people and to enable their faster employment, the Municipality of Centar allocated 100.000 BAM in this year’s budget for stimulation of employment and self-employment of youth through the grant allocation.

Public call for young people to submit their business plans was published on May 9 this year and was opened for two months. In the foreseen period, twenty-two candidates applied with their business plans. The submitted requests, i.e. business plans are currently being processed. Evaluation of business plans is being conducted by the commission, in accordance with the prescribed criteria.

The right to receive non-refundable funds from the budget of the Centar Municipality for launching and development of one’s own business, which can amount up to 15.000 BAM per business plan, can be exercised by residents of the Centar Municipality who are older than 35 and registered as unemployed in the Employment Institute of the Sarajevo Canton.

According to the President of the Commission of Municipal Council Centar for issues of the youth Amer Kapo, who is also the initiator of this project, young people show more and more interest in launching their own business with financial support from the Municipality of Centar.
