Center for Monitoring Traffic in Sarajevo Canton started Operating

The Traffic Center will officially start operating in the Sarajevo Canton from today, and the use of smart cards will be enabled, the Protocol and Press Service of the Canton Sarajevo announced.

This is the Center that will monitor the state of public transport in our Canton. Functional video surveillance in trams is also enabled, and from the Center it is possible to monitor all happenings in them, the number of vehicles at a given moment, it is possible to monitor the route, as well as the speed of trams.

For the first time in the history of public transport in Sarajevo Canton, there will be real-time reporting on the load of certain lines, and a big positive change will be that citizens will soon be able to use contactless, smart maps that will make it easier for them to use public transport.

As it was announced, this Center is an integral part of the Ministry of Transport of the Sarajevo Canton and it will engage people who will coordinate with public transport, all with the aim of safer and better public transport.

In the following phases of the development of this center, the timetable of the original tram transport will be improved, and after that the timetable of trolleybus, bus and minibus transport.

“The implementation of such projects establishes the basis for ‘Sarajevo Smart City’, and our goal is for the complete project to come to life in 2021,” said Minister Adnan Steta.
