As part of the IPA regional project, Deutsche Bundesbank and the European Commission (EC), with the financial support of the European Union (EU), launched today the second phase of the support program for central banks and banking agencies in the candidate countries and potential candidates of the Western Balkans in the EU.

In addition to the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH), Entities Banking Agencies, as well as all the central banks of the Western Balkan countries, participate in the program, implemented by the Deutsche Bundesbank, together with 19 national central banks of the European System of Central Banks (ESCB) and by the European Central Bank (ECB). The aim of the program is to further strengthen the institutional capacities of central banks and banking agencies, transferring the best international and European standards into national practices. The EU allocated three million euros to the program from its Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA III).

During the next three years, the CBBH, together with 19 partner central/national banks, the ECB and the EC, will continue to work on improving the operations in accordance with EU standards with the aim of future membership in the EU. The project is particularly significant in times of global challenges when cooperation and exchange of practices are more important than ever. The project will address key areas of central banking and supervision, announced the Press Service of the CBBH.
