The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) made a Decision on increase of remuneration paid to commercial banks on required reserve, with purpose of harmonisation with the European Central Bank (ECB) policy and mitigating the impact of the ECB benchmark interest rate growth on bank operations in BH.

According to this Decision, commercial banks will be remunerated at the rate of 50 basis points (0.50%) on required reserve holdings with the base in local currency BAM, and at the rate of 30 basis points (0.30%) on required reserve holdings with the base in foreign currencies and local currency with currency indexation. Remuneration will not be paid for holdings exceeding reserve requirement.

When making a CBBH decision on required reserve, all relevant factors were considered, including decisions of the ECB, and trends of key macroeconomic and financial sector indicators, taking care primarily of the currency board stability.

The Decision will be applied from 01 July 2023.
