The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina should make a decision today to postpone the elections scheduled for tomorrow due to the catastrophic floods that hit Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Irena Hadžiabdić, president of the CEC, said at yesterday’s press conference that if the elections cannot be held, then they are postponed and, as a rule, they are held within seven days, no later than 30 days from the day set for voting in regular elections.

“At the moment Jablanica is the most threatened for us because we received information that they are not sure how they can conduct the elections. We have a lot of good information about other municipalities that we thought we had a problem with,” said Hadžiabdić.

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina will appeal to the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, entity and cantonal governments and all competent civil protection administrations to urgently inform the Central Election Commission of all decisions they make regarding the situation with floods and landslides, but to also provide the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina with all other information with which they have, which are relevant for the organization of elections.
