New Bus Station ekapija.baThe empty mounting catering facilities, dilapidated benches, platforms that can almost be found nowhere in the world anymore, a large number of beggars, dilapidated gates… According to announcements from Centrotrans, that will change soon. Although the construction of new bus station has been planned a long time ago, better and more secure times have been awaited for the beginning of works.

Construction and investing in B&H in such environment and situation is very risky. Especially when it comes to large investments, it has to be waited until every detail is considered. After many years I hope we entered the phase of completing all activities in 2016 and starting the construction of bus station, i.e. 10,000 square meter large complex with full service, including a hotel, in late 2016 or in the beginning of next year.

“We are currently negotiating with one French company which owns a chain of 1,100 hotels around the world so that we have a brand, not an unknown hotel and, hopefully, the negotiations will be completed soon,” said Safudin Čengić, Director General of Centrotrans, and explained that this project will be implemented in principle of joint investing, since Centrotrans does not deal with trade or hospitality neither they have experience or competent staff to execute the project themselves.

A new, modernly equipped bus station will be constructed at the locality of the present bsu station. This new bus station will also include a hotel with 150 rooms, business-traffic center covering 37,300 square meters, underground garages with 400 parking lots, as well as other necessary amenities. Works will be conducted in stages; underground garages and bus station will be built first, and a shopping center after that. Project of construction of the new bus station and accompanying facilities is worth 60 million BAM.
