Member of the Crisis Staff of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ministry of Health and Assistant Minister of Public Health Goran Cerkez congratulated all believers of the Islamic faith Eid al-Fitr, and called on everyone to be extra careful.

“We all know and we have all learned the lessons about the spreading the virus. Keeping a distance, wearing masks indoors, with regular hygiene, hand washing,” Cerkez reminded.

He asked all those who will celebrate the upcoming holiday to do so within their families so as not to aggravate the epidemiological situation which, he said, is now stable and satisfactory.

“However, summer is ahead of us and it is certainly important that such a situation remains, that we do not come to situation to have restrictive measures again, which none of us would want,” said Cerkez.

Cerkez stated that the epidemiological situation in the Federation of BiH is stabilizing, and stated that at this moment the incidence is below 50 in the entire Federation.

“We still have three cantons where the incidence is around 100. Therefore, we can say that the situation is satisfactory and in the coming period, if this trend continues, we will move towards the goal of reducing the number of patients and further easing measures,” said Cerkez.

Also, he added, it is important to say that at this time, immunization, ie vaccination, continues throughout the Federation.

“As of last Monday, we had more than 55,000 vaccinated people. We expect new results in the coming period. Also, I would like to emphasize that in the month of May, more than 170 thousand vaccines will arrive in the Federation of BiH, which will enable the continuation of this process that has begun, “said Cerkez.

In the past 24 hours, 1,025 samples were registered with the Public Health Institute of the Federation of BiH, of which 64 were positive for SARS-CoV-2. New cases have been registered in Una-Sana, Herzegovina-Neretva, Central Bosnia, Zenica-Doboj, Tuzla and Sarajevo Canton. So far, a total of 643,882 samples have been tested, and SARS-CoV-2 has been confirmed in 131,978 individuals in FBiH. In the same period, 22 deaths were reported to the Public Health Institute of the Federation of BiH.

As of today, the number of deaths in the Federation of BiH is 5,056, the FBiH Public Health Institute announced. In Republika Srpska (RS), 366 laboratory samples were tested in the last 24 hours, and coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) was confirmed in 32 people.
