Chairman Komsic: I am not sure that there will be Changes, rather a new political Conflict

Zeljko Komsic, Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), stated that the current state of the value system, that state of some eternal conflict or expectation can be overcome by returning to modern principles of democracy.

Speaking at the Balkan Integration Forum in 2021 in Podgorica, Komsic mentioned that it is a principle that the individual is at the center of both the administrative and social systems.

“His rights, his dignity. It’s an idea that shouldn’t be given up. When that time will come depends on the will of the citizens in BiH to choose,” Komsic told.

He commented on the role of the international community in terms of the Election Law.

“I am not sure that it will lead to change. There will be a new political conflict. It is a mistake to set conditions for us by those who do not even know what progress would be now. The international community contradicts its basic, public policies that are presented at every turn.

These are primarily judgments of the European Court of Human Rights. The Zornic verdict is the most obvious example of how discriminatory we are towards our citizens. They usually try to bypass me in these negotiations, because I guess I’m spoiling that idyllic picture.

“We are not talking at the value level at all, and how the country will progress towards the European Union (EU) standards, while everyone claims that this is the goal, and that is why I think that this will be the reason for the failure of talks on electoral law reform,” Komsic stressed.
