Chairman of Council of Ministers spoke with EBRD President

Chairman of Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zoran Tegeltija spoke on Tuesday via video link with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Sumo Chakrabarti about the current economic situation caused by the coronavirus.

Speaker Tegeltija emphasized that the new situation with the expansion of the COVID pandemic and the remediation of its consequences posed new challenges, caused economic uncertainty and negative effects on the entire economy of BiH, the neighbouring countries and the EU, as the most important foreign trade and economic partners of BiH.

President Tegeltija pointed out the timely and adequate response of the institutions in BiH with the aim of saving lives and preserving the health of citizens, emphasizing that in the forthcoming period it is necessary to adapt the existing financial support instruments and initiatives for the rehabilitation of the health sector, for starting economic activities and restoring jobs.

On this occasion, Tegeltija thanked Chakrabarti for good cooperation so far, and emphasized that the EBRD has always provided strong support for economic development and reform processes in BiH.

The interlocutors underlined their common commitment to continue pursuing activities of mutual interest in the future.
