With an exercise routine by the medical evacuation helicopter, the senior doctor Major Stefan Schachner from the Austrian EUFOR contingent landed today in the children’s home “SOS Kinderdorf” in Sarajevo and delivered a check of 6.100 KM to the Director.

‘’The money will be used to warm one home in the children’s home. These are needs that we have in order to save energy and preserve the ecology, so we wish to heat up another home so that the children can feel at home’’, said the Director of the home Damir Mahmić.

The children’s home and EUFOR are in cooperation for several years already, and members of EUFOR often visit and help the children in a variety of ways.

‘’Members of EUFOR are undoubtedly friends of the Childrens home’’, added Mahmić.

The children participated in the giving of gifts, as well as staff members and members of EUFOR who collected the money.

Members of the Austrian medical team of EUFOR collected the money for the past six months by organizing various events in the Butmir base.

Members of EUFOR force recall that the action is supported by soldiers from all member countries to the mission and members of NATO headquarters in Sarajevo.

The children’s home ‘’SOS Kinderdorf’’ is currently organized into 16 families where 94 children live. In addition to the home, there are two homes for young children who are living in the city. The home cares for 154 children.
