air-pollution-sarajevoDespite the disapproval of the restrictive measure that includes the operating of motor vehicles on the even-uneven principle, citizens of the Sarajevo Canton seem to respect the order of authorities, aimed at reducing the pollution in the city and the environs.

Motor vehicles on streets of Sarajevo mostly comply with the Sunday rule on suspension of driving motor vehicles whose license plates end in an even number.

Operational Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton confirmed that police patrols are on the streets, ensuring the implementation of the temporary regime.

In accordance with the decision of cantonal authorities, as of 7 am this morning traffic of vehicles whose license plates end with number 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 is suspended, while as of midnight the suspension will refer to vehicles with uneven numbers.

Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of the Sarajevo Canton Čedomir Lukić stated the decision on the new traffic regime yesterday afternoon.

This measure does not include vehicles of police, ministry of defense, public transportation, utility enterprises, vehicles with diplomatic license plates, vehicles of emergency services, as well as vehicles for supply with medicines and food.

Legal entities that do not comply with the new regime will be penalized with financial penalty in the amount between 1.000 BAM and 5.000 BAM, while physical entities will be penalized with financial penalty between 500 BAM and 1.000 BAM.
