Corresponding member of the Academy of Arts and Sciences of BiH Mirko Pejanović warned that the BiH citizens, burdened with social and political situation in the country, to a large extend have not voted in the local elections, and those who did perform that duty showed dissatisfaction with the situation in the country and the method of ruling, with the bureaucratization of the leadership of ruling parties in both BiH entities.
Pehanović also pointed to the fact that at the last local elections the citizens did not give their vote to the ruling political parties only, but in both BiH entities they opted for candidates of opposition parties and independent candidates. He said that also important is the fact that this occurred in major BiH areas, as well as that this means that the citizens thus chose an alternative that can bring them more faith in a better life.
As one of the keynote speakers at the session of the Association of Independent Intellectuals Circle 99, Pejanović warned about the importance of local community for the citizens and their problems, and that municipal mayors and councilors should be asked to find a formula of cooperation in the interest of the citizens and in the interest of whatever is the best for the development of the local community.
“It should be noted all the time that political parties do not exist for themselves, that councilors and their caucuses do not exist only for leaderships of parties, but for the citizens as well, and that they must cooperate among themselves,” Pejanović stated.
